Tournament series in Bogotá 8

Tournaments are where chess in Bogotá is easiest to find. The national federation runs a numbered series in the food hall of the Avenida Chile mall on Calle 72, with editions through 2025 and on into 2026. Codema organizes a Grand Prix with rapid and classical dates whose venue the listings leave out. The district sports institute, the IDRD, holds the chess rounds of the Juegos Comunales in community halls of Fontibón and Engativá, and with the Bogotá league a summer rapid festival with free entry at the Centro de Felicidad Cometas in Suba.

Around the city, the Liga de Ajedrez de Cundinamarca takes its departmental circuit to the coliseums of Soacha and Tocancipá, and Cajicá has hosted departmental championships at the Colegio Howard. School teams meet in the Juegos Intercolegiados, which only pupils entered by their schools can play. Most of these events last a single day, and several split the field into age sections for children.
